Story

Its been a crazy 2 years for everyone and this year the ward walk is back on 8th May and as a family we will be walking the 10k and raising money for NICU in honour of our baby girl Ava.

Most people know our story  however here is a little bit of insight for those who don't and we will always do our part to help raise money for NICU which is very close to our hearts.

This year like every year will be heart breaking for us as on 03rd May it will be 5 years since we lost our beautiful Ava Margaret who was 7 months old when sadly grew her angel wings. We are forever greatful to all the staff at NICU that helped us become parents to our miracle baby girl albeit a lot earlier than planned. NICU are an amazing team of doctors nurses and so many more people that work long shifts and go through all the emotions with you they become family you are together all day every day. Along with Luke and I will be my mum (dee) and Ava's brother's Dylan and Charlie who will be raising money on this year's walk in honour of  our Ava and to help raise money for NICU who always welcome donations as believe me when I say they go above and beyond for your child and the families. Everyone in the ward was so amazing with Dylan on a daily basis and even though hes 7 now he still has very clear vivid memories of being in hospital with his baby sister and Charlie will know of her memory through us and Dylan. I personally always blew a kiss when I used to pass the NICU dept and never thought in my wildest dreams we would be in the situation we were when I had Ava at 24 weeks 5 days and weighed just 621 grams. We spent over 4 months in NICU and every day was difficult but we kept fighting all the time Ava was fighting. In January 2018 we were able to bring our beautiful daughter home until March when it all went wrong. Our Ava's lungs deteriorated rapidly and in the end it was all to much for Ava and we said our final goodbyes at Southampton PICU. We will always be greatful for the time we had with Ava. We met plenty of parents on the ward who weren't as lucky as us and didnt even bring their baby home every day was precious in there. Please donate to this amazing cause and wish us luck on our walk #avamargaret #tinyfighterarhatsApp
