Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2015, my dad received the news that the pains he continually had in his stomach was actually a tumour in his pancreas. The news that dad had pancreatic cancer became such a shock to us all. Pancreatic cancer doesn't usually give rise to any symptoms in the early stages, which is why it can be so difficult to detect and diagnose.
A few weeks later in Kings College London Hospital he underwent, what was supposed to be a 4 hour key hole operation, which ending up being just under 8 hour open major surgery. During the key hole surgery, they found secondary tumours on his liver and his stomach wall. The 8 hour operation consisted of removing the tumour on his pancreas, as well as two thirds of the pancreas, the whole of the spleen and the secondary cancers on the liver and stomach wall. Dad then spent just over a week at Kings and will begin 6 months of aggressive chemotherapy in the next two weeks.
As November is Pancreatic Awareness Month, I have decided to run this 10K in London to raise awareness for this horrible disease. So if you are able to sponsor me - any amount, no matter how small I will be extremely grateful.
Thank you very much.
