Story
This year I will be taking in the great north run on the 13th of September, for those of you who know how much I despise cardio, this will be no small feat. I have been training for the past few months, and only have a few kilometres to make up to a half marathon (21.1km!) before September. If anyone wants to come and make fun of me or bring me a gin and tonic at the end I would be over the moon.
I will be running for the butterwick hospice and the wonderful work they do. The butterwick charity runs 3 hospice centres for people with progressive illnesses throughout the north east, providing free day and inpatient services, end of life care and respite care for adults as well as a home away from home for young people and children known as butterwick house. They also have a family support team who guide families through challenges and changes that they face and provide bereavement counselling services.
It is a charity close to myself and my family's heart as my grandmother was admitted there in 2008 after suffering with terminal cancer for almost a year. We are forever grateful for the help and support that they provided us as well as countless local families. I would like to support them in any way I can, which is why I chose to do the great north run. I will be running in memory of Mary Stephenson, who was truly an inspirational woman, known for her kind heart, good nature and unfaltering patience. She was not only my grandmother but a very best friend.
I have a target of 300 pounds and with your help, I hope to exceed that.
Thank you
