Every year we provide care and support to over 6,500 people across South East London, both at home and in the hospice. We passionately believe that everyone should have access to the best care at the end of their lives. We need to fundraise £16 million each year to continue our services

Story

So I’ve finally got round to editing this! I can’t explain why, but for some reason I just can’t bring myself to edit the paragraph below. So I’m just going to put an update here. For anyone that doesn’t know, I got into the marathon! Can’t say I was ecstatic about it, but, I had to think about why I entered, and who I was doing it for. I am running for my aunt, who passed away in May 2019, after a battle with cancer. She was only 33, and left her 10 year old son and husband behind. I can’t put into words how much I miss her and how I want to urge people to tell your loved ones how much you love them, every day, because sadly sometimes you don’t know what life will throw at you. The last time I saw my aunt at St Christopher’s, before she passed,  we said our goodbyes, arranged the next time we’d visit and walked out the room, something told me to go back in, hug her and tell her I loved her. I am so, so glad I did that as we never got to have that next visit.

St Christopher’s looked after Lou for her last days, they kept her comfortable, and tried their best to keep her out of pain. The care they provide is second to none. So please anything you can give will really help this charity especially in these difficult times!

I am running in aid of St.Christopher’s hospice, who are caring for my amazing auntie, whilst also providing care for my uncle and young cousin. My aunt has been fighting so hard for the past few months, and I just want her to know how loved and adored she really is. You’re smashing it Loulou! Below I’ve pasted some info about St. Christopher’s from their website for anyone wanting to know more about them!

At St Christopher’s Hospice our vision is of a world in which all dying people and those close to them have access to the care and support they need, when and wherever they need it.

In order to make this vision a reality we have developed five priorities which give direction to all that we do. These are:

  • Driving innovation and new models of care
  • Empowering the public around death, dying and loss
  • Extending our reach
  • Ensuring our long term sustainability
  • Maintaining and improving the quality of care provided by us and others
