Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ride to the Sun is a 100 mile overnight cycle starting at Carlisle Castle on the evening of Saturday June 17th and ending 100 miles later at Crammond Beach in Edinburgh in the early hours of Sunday 18th June, hopefully in time to see the sunrise - hence the name "Ride to the Sun"!
I am taking part in this challenge to try and raise some much needed funds for the Seasons for Growth groups at Strathcarron Hospice.
Seasons for Growth is a programme that helps children and young people understand the feelings they experience when they lose a loved one. They get to meet children of the same age as themselves who have also experienced loss, and together they help each other understand their feelings and learn how to work with those feelings.
Support is also provided for parents/carers to help them understand how children process their feelings and how they can help them.
The Season for Growth group I attended helped me to understand the feelings I was struggling with as my first dad died when I was very young, and I also lost my sister a few years later.
I met other children my age and realised I was not on my own. I made new friends who understood what I had experienced and how I was feeling, and I learnt that it was ok to feel the way I did. I also learnt lots of ways to work with my feelings so they didn't take over everything.
I would like to raise money for the Seasons groups to try and repay the help they gave me and my mum and so they can help other children like me to not feel so bad anymore.
