Helping Elephant & People Live in Harmony

London Marathon 2018 · 22 April 2018 ·
Chicco Jerikho Jarumillind or Chicco Jerikho is an Indonesian film actor. Chicco started his career as a model and now stand with WWF as an avid supporter of wildlife. His first visit to Peusangan, Aceh in mid-August 2017 was treated by a stretch of green forest that appears from the hills where he stood. That's where the Sumatran Elephant, his beloved charismatic animal lives and he never looked back to help them.
A sense of sadness and distress arise in Chicco.
Wild elephant herds often enter the village because their homes (forest) have been transformed into settlements or palm oil plantations. Those events triggered a human-elephant conflict.
In its increasingly narrow house, the elephants could no longer their his food. They are also looking for new sources of feed. And that's where the conflict starts. Victims fall, most of all from elephant's side.
How to fix?
To mitigate human-elephant negative impacts, communities in Pintu Rime and Karang Ampar with us plan to grow elephant feed crops and barriers between settlements and forests. Elephant feeding plants and barrier trees will serve as a "fence" so that the elephant can stay in the forest.
For the sake of realizing it, Chicco intends to exert all his might to support it. He wants to help the fate of the Sumatran Elephant and raise funds through the international running event, London Marathon on 22 April.
It was one of Chicco's greatest wishes to Sumatran elephant live in harmony with human, with your help, we can make this a reality. The funds raised by you will support this most important cause for the sustainability of Sumatran elephants.
