Story

I have been extremely lucky to secure a charity place in the 2024 London Marathon to raise awareness and funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association - a cause extremely close to my heart.

All my fundraising efforts for MNDA are in memory of my Nanny Evelyn, who was diagnosed with MND in August 2020. After a short and tough battle with the disease she passed away in October 2020. Before my Nanny was diagnosed I knew very little about MND; now that I am aware of the devastating impact of this disease on a person's life I want to do all I can to help the charity find a cure and prevent other families from losing a loved one to MND.

I am very fortunate to run for #TeamMND again after completing both the 2022 and 2023 London Marathon, where I raised over £14,000 for MNDA. Running the marathons were the most difficult yet most rewarding experiences of my life. Although training and completing the marathon was an imense challenge of endurance and pain for me, it is nothing compared to the challenges people diagnosed with MND face every day. Being able to walk or run is one of the many body functions MND takes away, so I am willing to undertake the 26.2 miles challenge once again in April 2024 to show we should not take life for granted.

My target goal is £4,000, which would bring the total raised in my Nanny's memory to £20,000. Any donation is greatly appreciated and goes towards a great cause that supports families affected by MND and researches to find a cure.

What is MND?

  • MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord
  • MND leaves people 'locked-in' a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe
  • The risk of developing MND is 1 in 300
  • Every day 6 new people are diagnosed
  • MND kills 1/3 of people within a year of diagnosis
  • There is no cure

Here is what your donation can help to do:
  • £10 provides an information pack for a newly diagnosed person with MND support and information phone line for one hour
  • £300 provides basic level respite care for one day
  • £4,000 funds a person with MND to participate in clinical trial for a year, bringing us one step closer to finding a cure
  • £20,000 can fund an expert researcher for 200 days
