As someone who struggles with mental health I think this cause is amazing! I feel there is a real stigma around mental health issues especially in young people and its about time we were encouraged to seek help instead of deterred from it! My run for Mind is for myself and the people I love and care about who have suffered silently! Mental health issues do not descrininate, they don't care whether you have money or not, they don't care what you look like or what you do, and until we stop this idea of stereotyping who's suffering and who's not we aren't going to be able to help everyone because we're restricting who feels like they deserve the help.
Since 2000, mental health problems have increased by nearly 30% among young people. We also know that 75% of mental health problems are established by the age of 24. Mind provides a national voice and local support for anybody experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign against discrimination, fight for better services and offer information and support. By being part of twenty-seven 27 you're raising awareness of student mental health and helping us be there for the 27% of us who report a mental health problem while at uni. This March I'm joining the student running revolution and raising money for Mind.
