Story

Hello everyone,

Well we made it one piece with no broken ankles! It was very tough in places especially the middle three days that were very exhausting because of the small steep rocky paths every 20mins or so. I have to say the stunning views made the climbs worthwhile.

We have met some really nice people along the way especially Malcolm, Margaret, Pete and Jeanette who were doing the full walk the same time as us. We shared a well deserved bottle of bubbly with them on Sunday night!

Lots of people have donated along the way including fellow walkers, B&B owners, sight see'ers and coffee sellers, so a special thanks to them also. Charlie and I have shared a fantastic experiance and will have some great memories to last us a long time.

We have raised our target one last time to £2,000 (sorry Ian!) as the response we have received has been brilliant and we know there is still some donations to come in.

If you can pass this onto freinds and familly to see if they can help us get to £2K we would be really grateful.

Thanks again everyone for your kind support and thanks especially to my wife Wendy for everything.

Love Chris & Charlie xxx

Hello from Chris and Charlie,

This is the first chance we have had to update everyone directly as there isn't much signal up here! A big thank you to Wendy for doing our updates this week and for putting the photo's on xxx. Well we both have the blisters we were  promised and have just finished day 5 of 7. The weather today has been great and we have met some lovely people along the way who have all either give us discounts off coffees or meals or just took the web details and promised to donate. Denise at Brookside Villas- fantastic oasis B&B along the wall and mobile coffee man 2 days ago. We have met Malcome, Margaret, Pete and Jeanette at 3 of the B&B stops along the way and they have been good company and given great encouragement to Charlie and I and have promised to support us on line, thanks guys. We met a really nice lady today at one of the vantage points who used to live near Liverpool who also promised to support us. We have decided to up our target a little because of all the encouragement we have received this week. Charlie and I have got on really well this week and I wouldn't have missed this for the world despite the sore feet. Looking forward to seeing Wendy and the girls this weekend but in a funny way it will actually be quite sad when this week ends despite how tough it has been in places. If you are reading this and haven't yet supported us please chip in even with a small donation to help us reach our new target. Stay healthy and happy. lots of love Chris and Charlie xxx.

Hi To All.

Chris and Charlie have asked me to update for them! (its Wendy).

Well it is fantastic news that our target has been reached again!!

The boys have finished their 1st day of walking, in the rain for most of it, but they were happy to have finally got started....16 miles done 70 to go!!

Thanks again to all who have donated, but we would still like loads more money, so to those who haven't donated yet please give us your money!! :-)   thanks sooo much!xxxx

17/08/2010. Wow, the response has been fantastic! So much so that we have raised our target to £1,500 in the hope we can reach it by the end of the walk next week with a bit more effort from Charlie and I.

We have been training although not quite as much last week as we were on holiday in France. Saying that we must have easily walked 20 miles walking all day at Euro Disney!

To everyone who has donated thus far thank you so much, we really do appreciate your kindness and  if you are reading this and haven't yet donated, please spare what you can and if possible give generously. Thanks a Milloin to you all. Chris & Charlie.

28/07/2010. Well, this is me and my son Charlie before we start our training in earnest for our 86 mile walk along Hadrian’s Wall during the last week in August.

We decided to walk for Cancer Research as Charlie's Grandma Joyce sadly passed away 8 months ago of lung cancer and Charlie's Mum (and my wife) Wendy thankfully survived breast cancer and has been great now for the last 4 years since finishing her treatment.

Both Joyce and Wendy had connections to Clatterbridge (Joyce through the hospice and Wendy who received excellent treatment there) which is why we will be donating any gratefully received donations to The Clatterbridge Around the World in 80 Ways Campaign.

Charlie and I walked 20 miles on Sunday just gone (25th July) so we know we can manage the longest stretch but there is no way we (or rather I!) could have done it all over again the following day! Unfortunately that is exactly what we have to do for 6 days in a row but we are really looking forward to the challenge and raising some badly needed money for such an essential centre of excellence which is Clatterbridge Cancer Research.

Please give generously, it will make the blisters worth while!

Thanks a million.

Chris & Charl.
