Asda Foundation Sheffield 10K 2016 · 30 October 2016 ·

We change children’s lives every day by pioneering ground-breaking medical treatment in a comfortable & engaging environment at Sheffield Children’s. All the money raised helps create a healthier future for children & young people, funding projects that are over & above the standard NHS provision.

Story

I am running the Sheffield 10k in order to raise money for The Children's Hospital Charity. Not only am I running it for charity...it will be as Batman....carrying a large 'The Children's Hospital Charity' Flag.

Having worked in hospitals on and off for the last 7 years I understand how daunting it is for adults and how they can suffer with 'white coat syndrome' or anxiety in that environment so take a second to imagine how that is for a really sick child.

Your money would go towards buying vital life saving equipment and funding research. It could help a child attend a fun workshop to distract them during that stressful time. It can help pay for more colourful an inviting furnishings, equipment and new indoor play areas. It could pay for entertainment systems in a child's bedroom to keep them occupied during their stay or for a pull out bed so their parents can stay by their side. The most costly thing it could go towards is transforming wards to single rooms with en-suite facilities and space to recover from painful surgeries with privacy.
