ARE HOSTING A 24 HR NON STOP DJ AND MC SET IN AID OF MIND

Starting 10am Saturday 17th April 2021 live from Sheffield’s gumbo fm studio.

(DJ Stav) “Having dealt with a few personal issues  and recovered from depression myself I look at mental health in a very different way now, it can affect anyone, it holds no boundaries to age or gender!

To me the hardest part was accepting and seeking help, from a man’s point of view it was the worst case scenario for me as I felt like I had let people down,I feared I would be thought lesser of a man if I admitted I was feeling low and even worse still in my eyes thought people would think less of me, how wrong was I.

As soon as my family and close friends became aware of my situation it felt like a dark cloud had been lifted, 

Through  support help and advise from my doctor and family for the past 7 yrs now I am back to good health,Music has played a huge part in my life, DJing which I love takes me away from the day to day struggles of life which used to effect me, This  is why I’ve decided to do this 24hr non stop mix to raise money for MIND which I think is a great charity working effortlessly to help anyone who suffers with mental health”.

GUMBO FM

Straight outta Sheffield. Born out of a liking for all things Sheffield, helping the local community with the power of music to do great things.playing out music from all different genres from DJs old and new creating a happy and positive vibe.

Internet radio station (est. 2018); DJ sets, chat, randomized strangeness on a weekly basis; over 400+ shows on offer!

SHEFFIELD’s NY SUSHI; was one of the leading club nights in the UK in the late nineties, early noughties. Dropping drum and bass, hip hop, electronica and then some across three rooms - an antidote to the bland nights across the country. With design by the world famous The Designers Republic and then Kid acne blended with the biggest artists  on the scene. Sheffield became famous once more for this eclectic club night with the sushi massive coming from across the country to their Big Bang events.

DJ Stav(Chris staveley and Mc E-ll (Danny chouler)were residents for ny sushi and became key figures in the Sheffield underground music scene bringing there own skills and styles to the crowds,they have now re -ignited there passion and love for the music and have joined forces once again hosting there own radio show (The Friday Night Social) on Gumbo Fm!
