We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

The first time I took charge of my own life on a bike without stabilisers, I careered into the back of my father’s parked car. My second memory of biking as a child involves ending up head first in the one and only bush at the end of the garden… My third crash worthy of a mention was at the age of 13 when I did a wheelie – and as I admired the blue sky, the front wheel to my bike rolled casually away from me resulting in a few nasty scrapes and a severely bruised teenage ego!

As you can imagine, since then I’ve been much more cautious of taking to two wheels… However this year, with the added incentive of gaining a level of fitness last seen 15 years ago, I take on the challenge of completing a unique 100km moonlit ride past London’s iconic landmarks all in the name of Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK is a phenomenal charity whose main purpose is simple: to save lives by preventing, controlling and curing cancer. They do this through world-class research into over 200 types of cancer, all of which is entirely funded through donations. They fund over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses across the UK who work tirelessly to find new and better ways to beat cancer.

I wouldn’t say I know London all that well, and whilst I look forward to enjoying some of the sights on offer, I’m hoping the months of intense preparations and the 10-plus hours of saddle soreness are worthy of your sponsorship.

I’m looking to raise just £1000 for this remarkable cause and I ask that you dig deep and sponsor me for what promises to be a long and difficult journey both in mind and body.

Thank you for your kind and generous support.
