Fundraising for Anthony Nolan
Story
Thanks for visiting my Justgiving page, Anthony Nolan match incredible individuals willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to people with blood cancer or blood disorders who desperately need a lifesaving transplant.
I have chosen to raise funds for this amazing charity because of ‘HelpHollie’ a campaign set up to find a match for 8 year old Hollie Clark in Cardiff. Sadly Hollie passed away and her family, friends and community have come together with hopes to raise £100,000. To contribute to this fundraising I have challenged myself to compelte the following before the end of summer:
1. to swim the length of Bassenthwaite, Buttermere, Crummock Water, Grasmere, Lowes Water, Rydal Water, and Wast Water; and
2. to complete 1 mile 'event' swims in Derwent Water, Winderemere, Ullswater and Conniston.
11 all told, so Lakes 11!
I only started open water swimming last year so this represents a big challenge for me, and if you were to make a donation you would be making the cold, sunburn, pondweed in beard, threatening swans, etc. worthwhile, but more importantly you would be helping to support this fantastic cause and to raise awareness of the need for potential donors to step forward.
It costs £100 to add each potential lifesaver to the Anthony Nolan register so every pound raised really does make a huge difference. If you would like to support my challenge and HelpHollie then please donate as little or as much as you can!
