Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am looking to raise funds for my sister Paula who is working for Latin Link in Argentina. Read on to to see what I am doing... and to find out more about the charity that my sister works for.
One of my colleages at work recently took part in the round the island yacht race taking approximatley 10 hours to circumnavigate the Isle of Wight. I however am going to take this challenge one step further and kayak around the Isle of Wight... I have put in a lot of hours kayaking over the last few years and have a lot of stories to tell, this will be by far and away the biggest challenge I have ever set myself and a lot of preperation and planning will be required. A friend who works for the coastguard recently told me... 'if I get caught during the maximum tide I will end up in France very quickly'The trip will involve kayaking over 55miles, battling the islands strong tidal currents and the varying weather conditions. I anticipate I should be able to complete this within a 48hours period and have provisionally pencilled in the weekend of August 15th/16th to do this.
My sister Paula has been working in Salta in the north of Argentina as a volunteer with Latin Link http://www.latinlink.org/, a registered charity and Christian missionary agency. She has been working for the past 10 months with kids, teenagers and students, teaching social skills and the bible.
She hates writing to people asking for money so I have decided to try and help her raise some money, her current fundraising total is around £2,700 so we have a long way to go.
