Story
In a foolish fit of enthusiasm, I signed up to walk 50k round the hills and coastline of my beloved Isle of Wight. This idea could have been a good one, except for the following reasons:
- I am very unfit. I've not been to a gym for over two years now (I still miss the burn)
- I have to carry Josh while I train. He is getting MUCH heavier, he wants to do his own walking and his new nap times REALLY get in the way!
- I am not actually managing to train. (See the above Josh-related points.)
Sooo I'm going to be very sore, tired and unprepared for this 50k malarkey.
However, this isn't about me. I am doing this to raise funds for Contact, the charity for families with disabled children. (It's also the charity I work for - so I see every day the difference we make to families lives.)
I am taking up this challenge because families with disabled children are amazing, but they want someone they can turn to for support and advice, who they can trust and never be turned away.
This is what Contact does. Whatever the child's condition, wherever they are in the UK and whenever they need us.
Contact provides emotional support, practical advice and expert knowledge. We give parents the confidence and skills they need to fight for their child's rights. What we do reduces stress, improves finances, links families together and changes lives.
Please help Contact to reach more families, and reach them sooner, by sponsoring me today.
Thank you!
