Story
Hi all,
My name is Christina Greenland and I'm 21 years old. I have chosen to try and raise as much money as possible for The Alzheimer's Society.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia which is currently effecting around 496,000 people in the UK alone (both young and old). It's heartbreaking for not only the victims but also the victims loved ones. It's a disease which kills brain cells, eventually causing memory loss and loss of transmission to the brain. Alzheimer's is a progressive disease which means gradually over time more parts of the brain are damaged. The longer this continues the more severe the symptoms. It's unfortunately very common which means it could effect your friends, family and even you.
The Alzheimer's Society help to research 'cause, cure, care and prevention' of dementia to improve treatment for the people effected by this disease.
This charity is very close to my heart as my lovely Nan Mable Anne Greenland once suffered with this horrible disease. I'll be helping to raise funds in her memory.
How do I plan on doing this? On the 18th October 2014 I'll be jumping 12,000 feet out of a moving plane (otherwise known as skydiving.. !) Skyline are the largest organisers of sponsored charities in the UK. They work with over 1,500 charities, including The Alzheimer's Society.
I'd be extremely grateful for any donations, however large or small. Every little helps! Thank you for all of your support and please help share the message. Wish me luck!!
