Fundraising for British Heart Foundation
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the Great South Run in October (10 miles!!!) because my lovely seven year old son Ben has a congenital heart defect (Bicuspid Aortic Valve) meaning he will require surgery when he is a teenager. We found out about this last November after a heart murmur was detected during a routine check the year before.
At present he is as fit and healthy as any normal seven year old and can run around and play sport and do exactly what all his friends can do. He plays tennis, football and cricket and swims every week.
Within the next decade his aortic valve will slowly deteriorate until it is no longer functioning well enough for him to do all these things. When this happens he will need surgery to replace the defective valve.
The British Heart Foundation states "For babies born with heart defects to the millions of adults affected by heart disease, our scientists are carrying the fight for every heartbeat into the future", so please give generously in order to help people like my Ben and many others have the best future possible.
