Story

The big day is now complete, BUT WE STILL WELCOME DONATIONS TO A GREAT CAUSE !!

After a hearty breakfast provided by The Windmill (putting the costs into the charity) the stalwarts in fine regalia took to the road.  Messers Chauffeur Lowndes, Batman & Robin, Fred Flintstone & Barney Rubble, Sheik Tinsoor, Mr Blobby, tennis divas Nigella Sharapova & Peta Kornikova, Jack Sparrow, Action Man, Shergar, (Very) Scary Spice, Herb Murrell (earstwhile of The Stylistics), Pope John-Paul-George-Ringo, and Hagar The Horrible were a sight not often witnessed in the tranquility of the club Cricket Grounds they were to visit.

We received an amazing welcome at all the grounds we visited, especially those where we were not previously known.  A traffic delay as we clashed with Charlesworth carnival meant we were forced to abandon the bus (temporarily) to access the ground and as the day wore on, we did slip behind our intended timings.

However, we did complete all 20 grounds, albeit arriving back at West about 45 minutes late.  The day exceeded our expectations as we raised something in the order of £1100.  With about £2300 in sheet sponsorship and the monies kindly gifted through this page , we are nearing the £4000 mark.   AWESOME !!!!

Once again, thanks to all who have donated.

TOTAL RUNS AT THE GROUNDS VISISTED = 5729

Is this a world record ?  We certainly know of no other group who have visited 20 cricket grounds in one afternoon.  This is the objective of the Denton West Stalwarts (2011 Team) .  We will walk a lap at each ground.  We may have a refreshing beverage along the route.  And we will be doing it all in the Stalwart tradition of fancy dress.

We would again appreciate your support.

If you sponsor us before the day of the event, there is a special mystery prize for the nearest estimate to the total number of runs scored at the grounds we visit that day.  Just enter your estimate along with your comment when you donate
