Ciarán McKeever's Sky Dive Challenge For Action Cancer - May 2013

In May 2013 I will be taking part in a sponsored Tandem Sky Dive for Action Cancer. Me and my friends will be jumping out at approx 13,000 ft, freefalling at 120mph for 6,000 before pulling the cord and floating to the landing spot!

Action Cancer is the only charity that provides breast screening services for ladies aged 40-49 and over 70 (these services are not provided to ladies in these age brackets by the NHS). The Health promotion department provides MOT health checks for males and females as well as recently launching their "Why Weight?" programme. They also provide programmes to schools and community checks. For people who have been affected by cancer, Action Cancer provides complementary therapies, counseling for adults and young people and listening ear.

The Action Cancer BIG BUS is a state of the art mobile screening unit that travels to over 200 locations across the country each year providing breast screening, health checks and the new why weight programme. Each month Action Cancer detects 8 cancers through the BIG BUS and the screening service at action Cancer House in Belfast.

Action Cancer receives no funding from the government, the charity needs to raise £3.5million each year to keep its services running. Fundraising events such these that help the charity raise these funds and continue to save lives and support people.
