In Memory of Stephen

Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2019 · 26 May 2019 ·
Stephen was diagnosed with advanced Oesophageal Cancer in December 2017. We were advised in May 2018 than the cancer was inoperable and no further treatment was available at home or abroad. The advice we were given by the Macmillan nurses was not to spend the precious time we had left looking for a cure that did not exist but to spend the time together, doing things we enjoyed. We took this advice on board and had many happy months staying in lovely hotels , visiting friends and family and enjoying our time together. The other piece of advice that we took on board was that when the time was right to go to a hospice so that the final memories would be happy ones and Stephen could die in peace and dignity. In January 2019 is health deteriorated and he could no longer be cared for at home so he went to St Columbas Hospice, Edinburgh where he died peacefully on 26th February 2019 Throughout his illness I kept running to keep me strong and focused and would now like to raise some money to say thank you to Macmillan for all their help and support. They have an on line community which was so helpful to me as I was able to get support from others in a similar situation. Thanks for supporting my fundraising.
