Hello lovely, welcome to my page.
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read this section. I am running 25 miles between 1st-31st May to raise funds for Mind. My challenge is part of a bigger event called Miles for Mind 2021 organised by Runr.
Why am I doing this?
I was diagnosed aged 24 with a Mental Health Disorder/condition called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, better know as OCD. You may have heard of it, think you know what it is, obsessive cleaning, keeping things straight? It can be obsessively cleaning, or needing symmetry; it can also be so much more. There are many themes of OCD and it can manifest for each person in different ways. For me personally, I have experienced most themes including contamination, rumination and magical thinking to name a few. Since my diagnosis, I have worked and continue to work every day to manage my OCD also affectingly know as Brian the OCD.... you can finish the rest of that sentence!
Without therapy, and support charities like Mind those with OCD can feel isolated, alone and suicidal, I did for a very long time. With the support of friends & family and my incredible OCD support group, at this moment I can say I am living with OCD. I am in control and manage my disorder rather than it managing me.
So, if you can and would like to sponsor my challenge. Thank you. I have just learnt to run for 25 minutes without stopping whilst doing Couch to 5K. So far it has taken me 12 weeks to reach week 8 of the 9 week challenge. Miles for Mind is my first running challenge, next Parkrun!
