Story

Frances Gough was the Principle Teacher of Additional Support Needs at Castle Douglas Primary school and one of the most inspirational teachers I have ever had the pleasure to meet and work with.  She encouraged my passion and interest in working with children and young people with ASN and showed me that nothing is impossible for anyone, as long as you believe.  In the short time she taught at Castle Douglas she had a massive impact on children and adults alike and will be sorely missed.  Tragically, Frances died after suffering a brain haemorrhage in December 2013.  This is why I have chosen to raise money to support RUSH, the University of Edinburgh programme that is dedicated to better understanding the causes and outcome of spontaneous (non-traumatic) intracerebral haemorrhage in adults.  With such understanding we can then look to reduce the horrendous consequences of brain haemorrhages for all concerned.
