Story
We at Claremont Fan Court School want to show our support to the child victims of the conflict in Ukraine. We are raising money for the War Child Ukrainian appeal. The aim is to help the charity provide food, shelter and blankets to cope with the growing refugee crisis. WarChild stay in the area long after the cameras have left to provide support in keeping children safe, gain an education to equip them with the skills required for the future.
On the 24 and 25 March the centrepiece of our fundraising effort will be the school community taking part on a walk for Ukraine. It is 1505 miles from Esher to Kyiv. As a show of support the plan is for the community to cover this distance by everyone walking 1-mile laps around the school. The more laps completed the greater the contribution to the challenge. A donut sale will also contribute to the fundraising effort on this day.
Our first goal is to walk to Kyiv, 1505 miles. After that our goals are to walk to other war torn areas including:
2240 from Esher to Palestine
2400 from Esher to Damascus
3491 from Esher to Sanaa (Yemen)
3958 from Esher to Kinshasa
4015 from Esher to Kampala
On Friday 18 March, Senior School children will also fundraise with an 'own-clothing' day.
Please support the school community’s effort to raise as much money as possible for this cause.
