Story
Dear All,
Come April I will be attempting to Run the 2024 London Marathon and fundraising in aid of the Whittington Health Charity. I started my training as a junior doctor at The Whittington Hospital in London and got to see first hand the amazing impact the Whittington Health Charity has on patients lives.
By donating today you will be helping to support the fantastic work the charity does. I've outline a few specific projects, past and present to help you understand their scope and impact.
Thanks to recent donations, the charity has been able to create a new Urgent Assistance Fund, which enables clinicians to obtain funds in urgent cases, which will have a transformative effect on very sick patients. For example, this fund paid for a slushy machine for a young patient receiving end of life care, who was only able to enjoy slushy iced drinks.
The charity funds the Sing for Your Lungs singing group which benefits patients with breathlessness due to chronic respiratory disease.
They also helped to purchased breast pumps for mothers with sick or premature babies in Neonatal Intensive Care, who are otherwise too sick to breast feed.
Whittington Health Charity funded the purchase of materials for patients with dementia admitted into the Emergency Department, which help to reduce agitation and keep them calm while they are treated.
Some of the projects the charity funds are much bigger. For example, they are currently fundraising to transform a disused courtyard at the hospital into a tranquil garden for some of our most vulnerable patients. There are many more projects and equipment that the Charity has been able to fund, and lots more in the pipeline.
Any donation - small or large would be massively appreciated!
Thank you so much for your support.
Best Wishes,
Claudia
