Marks Story:

"I first became ill in 2010 the Doctor said it was pneumonia, 6 months leading up to this time i was always tired which was very unlike me.

Then I went private for second opinion where they did a biopsy looking for Acid Maltese Syndrome
10 wasted weeks? Referred to Wythenshawe lung specialist where they diagnosed me with MND.

For two weeks I had to sleep sat up as my diaphragm had stopped working due to muscle weakness whilst waiting for my ventilator

I sleep whilst connected to the ventilator and use sometimes during the day when I feel breathless.

In november 2011 I went into hospital to have surgery a PEG fitted feeding tube.

I have a wife of who I have been married to for 20 wonderful yrs and two superb daughters Tianne 19 and Danielle who is 17.

The MND team in place to help me have been a god send from Doctor Roberts from Wythenshawe and Karen Lea who comes to home visits to assess and help me with everyday needs,

Also Scott and Suzanne Briggs at Clearway Drainage Systems Ltd who have looked after my welfare since being diagnosed enabling me to carry on working,

In Feb 2013 I had to make my hardest decision in life and that was to retire from work after 18 yrs service with CDS I worked my way up in the company from a field engineer up to management level from leaving school at 16 I have never been out of work.

I now just take every day as it comes"
