WE HAVE RAISED OVER £3,500 FOR CLIC SARGENT

It is four weeks to the day that I embarked on my first marathon, and I am delighted to report that I completed the 26.2 miles in London.

It was an amazing and incredibly well organised event to partake in. The atmosphere was fantastic, but inevitably I did ‘hit the infamous wall’ at around mile 19. However team CLIC Sargent had about 350 runners, and their cheering points lifted the spirits on many an occasion, in addition to seeing fellow CLIC runners on the course. In the back of my mind were the children and young people the team was running for, and your generous donations. I was overwhelmed by the support I received
from family, friends, colleagues, and clients. Together we have raised a
whopping £3592.21, and donations are still coming in!

Here’s what this money can do:

£100 can pay for nearly four hours of a CLIC Sargent’s Nurses time

£170 can pay for a CLIC Sargent grant to help meet sudden extra costs that a cancer diagnosis can bring

£820 can pay for a CLIC Sargent Social Worker for a week supporting children, young people and their families cope with the impact of a cancer diagnosis in their lives

£990 can pay for a family to stay for a month in a Home from Home – close to where their child is receiving cancer treatment

£2,500 can pay for 14 young people to take part in a residential weekend where they can meet people with similar experiences

As I said before, I consider myself utterly blessed to have three healthy children. A cancer diagnosis like this must be devastating. I am so proud that we have raised this amount which will make a difference to some children, young people and their families. CLIC Sargents team’s overall target is £880,000 and as donations are still coming in, they are not far off. Thank you all so much for your support and donation, I am truly grateful as are CLIC Sargent. You certainly kept me going for those
last few miles. Watch out though…..I’m not hanging up the running shoes!!!
