At YBTC, we walk beside anyone impacted by a brain tumour diagnosis through every step of their journey. Our local support brings comfort, care, and hope to families across Yorkshire- while our local research and investment in 'pump priming' brings us closer to kinder treatments and a cure.

Story

In 2016 our lives were turned upside down when out of the blue Mum, Angela, was given the devastating diagnosis of Glioblastoma and given just 12 months to live. She passed away not long after her 60th birthday in 2018 with so much more of her life left to enjoy. Mum had overcome great adversity through her life and despite all the odds had a successful career, a wonderful husband and home, put two kids through university and even had a foster child for weekend respite - she lived life to the full and was just the best Mum, Wife, friend and mentor to all - a true inspiration. This was all cruelly taken away by her brain tumour and her absence is still felt deeply by all each and every day. Through Mum's diagnosis, treatment and even after we lost Mum - YBTC have been there to support us throughout. As well as supporting patients and families, they fund vital brain tumour research across Yorkshire. Brain tumour prognoses and treatment have barely improved for 40 years - this has to change! Dad and I will be walking the Cinder Trail Scarborough to Whitby with YBTC (aiming to get at least as far as Robin Hood's Bay!) to raise much needed funds. Please support us and the charity in Mum's memory and donate what you can for this fantastic cause, thank you all so much, it means the world!
