Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Lydia was born in 2004, soon after, she was diagnosed with pulmonary atresia a congenital heart defect and also Alagille's syndrome which effects the liver. Lydia's family were told that there was no more that could be done for her and to take her home but Lydia's mum Rachel refused to accept this and requested a second opinion from Great Ormond Street, London. Lydia underwent numerous procedures and operations and managed to live a very full and happy life. She was the life and soul of any party and had the voice of an angel. Lydia took everything in her stride. At 11 years old, Lydia underwent a procedure at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London. She came away from the procedure full of energy and with the peace of mind that she would not require anymore medical intervention in the near future.
2 weeks later Lydia took ill. It wasn't known at the time but Lydia had contracted sepsis from her procedure at GOSH. Lydia fought for three months before sadly passing away on the 5th July 2016.
In the weeks and months that followed Lydia's illness, friends, family and the local community rallied together to raise awareness and funds for the family's adopted charity, The Sick Children's Trust.
Without this charity, Lydia's family wouldn't have been able to stay at her bedside and give her the love and support she so desperately needed.
Each room costs roughly £10,000 per year to run and maintain. Our goal is to sponsor a room in Lydia's name so that another family can benefit from this amazing charity.

We are doing a mammoth bike challenge – Way of the roses 174 miles In 3 days!!
The Way of the Roses is a relatively new coast to coast cycle route from Morecambe on the north west coast of the UK to Bridlington in the east, taking in some of the most stunning and breath-taking scenery along the way. It is a challenging route consisting of a variety of terrain including traffic-free paths, on-road cycle lanes, country lanes and quieter roads.

Colin Day, Ryan Bringloe, John Booker, Varley and Neil Lemmon will be taking on this mammoth cycle challenge starting on Friday 26th May and finishing on Sunday 28th May 2017.
