Story

The year is 1978 - "You have 2/3 years to live" - NO CURE - NO SUPPORT - NO INFORMATION. Chilling words from my Neurologist. "Enjoy the time with your family".  Married - 3 children 8 and 4 years, baby 2 months who I thought would never remember me.  I closed my small business and very reluctantly had to make the staff redundant. That's how it was 40 years ago. SOMETHING HAD TO BE DONE.

A small group of like minded people met up in Ealing, West London, and the seeds were sown for the formation of MNDA. I joined the first National Committee and was made responsible for South London and Surrey areas until 1985 when the East Surrey Branch was formed.  I have worn "many hats" over the 40 years and the Branch very kindly asked me to be President last year.  The money raised will go to them for the wonderful work they all do as volunteers in supporting people with MND and their families and also in raising awareness and funds for research.

In April as part of my training programme, I am walking the 100k Camino Way from Sarrie to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain over a period of 9 days. Along the route I will be raising further funds and spreading the word..

I am already in "full training" as this may be the last occasion I am able to complete 10k before my legs give up completely, old age kicks in and the memory disappears!!

Thanking you all for your support.       Kindest regards,    Colin.

PS; 2019 is also my 50th wedding anniversary and Mary my wife, insists my memory disappeared many years ago!!!
