Hello!

I will be running my first ever half marathon in September 2014 to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

After about 10 years of being overweight and incredibly unfit I decided enough was enough and began exercising and focusing on my health. As of March 2014 I have lost 65 lbs.

Running this half marathon is a huge goal for me and one that I'm really excited about. 

So I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to raise money for a good cause. Most of us know someone who have dealt with cancer in their family or we have lost someone close to us or we know of people fighting cancer right now. Every pound you donate goes towards helping find a cure for cancer. Whatever you can donate, every penny helps.

Around 325,000 people were diagnosed with cancer in 2010 in the UK, that's around 890 people every day.

Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer.

More than 1 in 3 people in the UK will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime.

There are more than 200 types of cancer.

Half of people diagnosed with cancer now survive their disease for at least five years.

Cancer causes more than one in four of all deaths in the UK.

In the UK there were more than 157, 000 deaths from cancer in 2010.

More than 40% of all cancers in the UK are linked to tobacco, alcohol, diet, being overweight, inactivity, infection and radiation.
