Story
My Macmillan story starts in June 2012 when I joined the PR team.
As most of you will know, Macmillan is an absolutely amazing charity. Offering emotional, practical and financial support to people affected by cancer. I knew all this too, I knew cancer was a terrible disease and I knew about the devastating effect it could have on families and individuals. What I didn't know was how incredibly valuable a charity like Macmillan can be during such an incredibly difficult a time.
I've met some amazing people while working here and I've been completely inspired. I've both laughed and cried while listening to cancer survivors, carers, husbands, wives and parents share their stories about how cancer came into their lives and how Macmillan was there when they needed it most.
Yes it’s a job, but more than that it’s a cause I truly believe in.
Which is why I decided to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Macmillan. I signed up in March when I could barely run five minutes without needing to stop. I then ignored my training plan for months, hoping if I didn't think about it, it didn't mean it was actually happening. As the October 6th date draws near I am now in full on training mode and am determined to make it the entire distance without walking!
So if you can, please donate!
