Story

I have signed up to complete several half marathons (Stirling & Edinburgh so far) to raise awareness of CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy) which in short affects the nerves which could potentially cause serious long term weakness. Treatment for this illness can be prolonged due to the lack of knowledge/awareness which can leave families distressed seeing loved ones weaken to the point they can’t hold things. GAIN is the only organisation dedicated to helping people affected by Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), CIDP and the associated inflammatory neuropathies throughout the UK and Ireland.
As alot of you may already know my dad and our family had to go through a worrying time during his prognosis/treatment. Seeing my dad losing his strength has got to be one of the hardest things I have seen. Luckily over a 10-12 month period and the correct treatment, he has been able to regain most of his strength and returned to work. If we were made more aware of the symptoms etc the past 12 months could of been a lot easier.
Therefore can I please ask you to kindly donate to GAIN so that people are more aware of these disorders so less families have to go through disturbing times.

About the charity

GAIN is dedicated to helping people affected by GBS, CIDP and the associated inflammatory neuropathies. We provide information and support to patients and their families, raise awareness of the conditions amongst medical and social care professionals, and help to fund and facilitate research.
