Story
I have been volunteering at Shelter from the Storm for a year and a half now and in that time met homeless people from every corner of the earth and from every background. The common theme which each one of them habe is that they carry a tragic story. Whether they are escaping persecution, domestic abuse, thrown out by their family for their sexuality or lost their job in the economic downturn and failed to pay for rent or mortgage they are there for a reason. We care for a variety of people from doctors who have hit really hard times to young girls traffiked into the UK for prostitution and escaped their abusers and need a safe haven.
The shelter is purely funded from donations and voluntary manpower and is the only non government funded shelter in central London.
A team of us are throwing ourselves out of a plane to help raise money to feed and house 40 homeless people and need every penny we can get. I know times are tough, but if you have any spare cash then please dig deep and support this amazing charity.
Thank you.
