UPDATE
Craig vs. the Lamp Post
Training is going quite well despite the issue that we're both way behind where we should be in miles completed. My training took a knock a couple weeks back. Approaching a roundabout in Cumbernauld (the home of roundabouts) I looked round to check that traffic, at the same time I tried to kick my feet out my pedals, turned back and was caught by a big gust of wind which blew me to the left. I clipped the kerb and propelled myself in a lamp post. As I dusted myself down and thanked my lucky stars that wasn’t seriously injured, although I do have a big bruise on my stomach and a cut on my arm, which I am desperately trying to gain sympathy for, I noticed a car double back on the roundabout. The driver pulled up on the other side of the road, put down his window and shouted across "Hey mate, you ok?" Not wanting to sound like a ponse despite my bruise and cut I shouted back "Fine thanks", the driver replied "Good stuff. That was the funniest thing I’ve seen in ages."
I plan to track him down and gain sponsorship!
UPDATE 2
Last Saturday i thought i'd go for a practice ride to Strachur. My dad insisted i take spare tubes, a pump and a puncture repair kit, i insisted that there was no need as i wouldn't get a puncture and it was simply extra weight i didn't need! Yes you know what is coming. 46 miles later and with 5 miles to go until the Colintraive ferry, hisssssssss! Had to walk 5 miles in my cycling shoes, which is a bit like the inverse of high heels, to get the ferry and had to do it in under an hour to make the boat! When i got home i got the "i told you so" speech......which i probably deserved.
Rory's training continues to go well with very good times posted. 10 days to go!
