I have completed numerous triathlons and running events but have rarely raced for a worthwhile cause other than my own satisfaction of finishing.

And I cannot think of anything more worthwhile than raising money for the amazing MacMillan nurses that took care of my Grandad during his last weeks.  Theres a few great stories of trips to the pub in the afternoon, or having Whisky served at his bedside in the evening.  The nurses would do absolutely everything and anything to ease what is such a heart breaking time for Grandad and the family.
