Race of Remembrance · 11 November 2016
So three guys will be taking on Wales in November in a couple of race cars for an 8 hour endurance event.
The journey has been long and full of hiccups. Dan in his first year of racing has experienced highs and lows (the high being his first race in a car he built himself on his driveway, the low being rolling said race car at Donington Park). DD hasn't driven his Compact almost all season owing to engine trouble, having got an engine it leaked oil like a knackered washing machine on its second outing of the year at Silverstone. But perhaps the biggest hiccup, a massive shunt at Oulton Park completely writing off Clives car.
So with little over a month until the even the outlook was bleak with barely two cars from the original three, but determined we pressed on in the spirit of the event. Clive being the owner of Braintree Motorworks took in Dans injured car to get it back into racing condition and David dropped the oily mess to TWG Automotive for open heart surgery. With less than two weeks to go we are pretty much ready and raring to go.
So now is the part where you come in, we have done our bit, we and the cars are pretty much as ready as they will ever be! What we need you to do is give generously to help us raise as much as possible for Help for Heroes, these guys provide funding for Mission Motorsport and here is their mission:
To aid in the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations by providing opportunities through Motorsport.
In the co-ordination and provision of motorsport as a recovery activity. The training function to provide the qualifications needed to return to work, and as Relationship Managers to the automotive industry for vocational opportunities for the wounded, injured and sick. 'Race, Retrain, Recover'.
We will provide updates here over the weekend so you can keep track of our progress and also on our twitter feed and Facebook page so you can see where we are, what we are doing and more importantly by how much we are winning... well that's the goal, no one goes racing to finish second do they?!?
