Story
On 18th March, DOMAN will be hosting our Easter Showcase to help raise money for Help Musicians, a charity which does vital work supporting musicians through the stages of their career and now during the pandemic. Help Musicians provides creative development funding, mental health support, and hearing health schemes which all do fantastic work in 'normal' circumstances. Now more than ever, Help Musicians needs our support. The arts have greatly suffered this year, due to lack of in-person events and have received little to no government aid. In response to the crisis, Help Musicians has started a Financial Hardship Funding program to support self-employed musicians who do not qualify for the government's Self-Employment Income Support Scheme. This is a hugely necessary fund and is helping to protect the arts which contribute so much to UK culture until we can all meet, listen and enjoy them in person again.
At DOMAN, we are passionate about supporting student artists and original musicians in the Durham University community, promoting their work online and usually in live shows. Due to Covid-19, we have had to adapt (hence this term's online event), but we are still making fantastic progress in supporting the student musicians who make Durham the vibrant and fun city it is. We know first-hand the difficulties facing musicians and artists at the moment, and are committed to providing creative outlets, networking support and fostering a sense of community between musicians in any way possible. It is a pleasure to be supporting Help Musicians, which does such brilliant work and shares our ethos. Please give generously - a little really does go a long way.
