Okay, so this is the point where I make my 'impact'! –
As my parents don’t live in the country, over the years I’ve found myself playing the willing role of The Littlest Hobo to friends/families Christmas day celebrations. As much as I love the holiday season (AKA Gifts and Eastendersmas) I feel that a little giving back to charity this time of year would also be beneficial. (It would also outweigh the annual: I’ve eaten too many carbs over two weeks, I’ve gained half a stone, I must go to the gym, fail at the gym, I can’t fit into my skinny jeans >>> Crash diet!)
This year I shall be raising money for the Terrence Higgins Trust by running 26 miles on Christmas day. The Terrence Higgins Trust was one of the first charities to be set up in response to the HIV epidemic and has been at the forefront of the fight against HIV, and improving the nation's sexual health, ever since. For more information please go to http://www.tht.org.uk/aboutus/ourmission
I know we have other financial commitments at this time of year but with your help I’m hoping to raise £500 so please give generously if you can…..even if it’s mere £5.….it all adds up! You can also donate by text message > Text to: 70070 Message: SDKR54 £5 (or whatever you can afford)
I did a Christmas day solo marathon last year and to be honest, it was like running through London after a nuclear disaster with Lady Gaga on repeat (...not as entertaining as I thought). So to keep my spirits up (and my brain from thinking about delicious carbs), I’m planning my route over the next few weeks by making a 3-minute pit stop to up to 10 people in the London area (starting North and ending South).
Fingers crossed this way I’ll have a motivated cheer, a glass of water or slice of orange to keep me going :0) If you have the time and wish to be part of one of my pit stops, please email me at demetrius16@hotmail.com
For updates of my progress and the route, keep visiting this page (or send an email and I'll keep you updated personally)...
...and please don’t forget to donate :0)
Thanks
Demetrius
