We fund educational programmes to protect historic buildings

Story

We will be completing a 390km fundraising cycle from the grave of John Ruskin at St. Andrew’s Church, Coniston to the grave of William Morris at St. George’s Church, Kelmscott. We are completing the cycle over 3 days, from 19th April to 21st April 2019.

We are fundraising for the SPAB Dance Scholarship Trust (named after Harry and Monica Dance), which sponsors a SPAB scholar every year. Having all completed the prestigious 9-month SPAB scholarship programme ourselves at different points in the last 20 years, we are hoping to ‘give back’ to the scholarship fund in some way (for more information on the scholarship, please see the following link: https://www.spab.org.uk/learning/scholarship ). We are all architects, engineers or building surveyors working in conservation of historic buildings, who are passionate about protection of built heritage and promotion of traditional craft skills. Morris and Ruskin are two of the biggest influences on the SPAB and therefore, by sponsoring future SPAB scholars, we will be enabling the legacy of their work and philosophy to be continued.

We would be extremely grateful for any sponsorship that you may be able to offer and know that all of this will go towards the Trusts goal of supporting two bursaries on the scholarship in the future.
