Winston's Walk · 21 September 2017

The Friends are the Cathedral's fan club. Admirers of the building, its history and its community, Friends are a part of the Cathedral and work together to preserve it for ever, contributing financially - and directly - to many individual and vital projects.

Story

May I introduce myself? My name is Winston, and I am a three year old Border Terrier. Although not officially a Friend of Canterbury Cathedral, I hope to be able to take up The Dean's Challenge by walking to Winchester in celebration of the Friends 90th Anniversary, raising money through donations to support the work of the Friends.

My Winchester Walk will start from Canterbury, and then to Eastbourne on September 21st, ending at Winchester Cathedral in early October, following the South Downs Way for just over ninety miles while allowing me one or two rest days. I am told that the Walk should be very exciting, and so I am hoping to Tweet regularly so that, if you wish, you are able to follow my progress along the route.

Walking is my favourite activity, although I have been told that a walk to Winchester will require a map, and so I shall be accompanied by a support team of family members, Janice, David and Charlotte Reid.

With love, and thanks in anticipation of your support, Winston, the Border Terrier.
