Story
Reet, So you must know me to be reading this amongst the 1000's of other Great North Run pages so first off, Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you will have gathered I’m running the GNR this year to raise money for St Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth. This is where my dad spent his last few days before passing away and ever since then I have felt some moral inclination to do as much as I can to raise money for this amazing place as it is mostly funded by public donations.
As you know I’m not one for waffling on (lie number 1!) so enough of the sad tear jerking stuff, just get those short arms in your deep pockets and send some money this way. I know you all drink far to much as it is so even the price of one pint donated to me will make a massive difference. (I hardly ever drink so not sure on the price of beer, but I’m sure its at least a pound a pint. lie number 2!)
You are all invited to the finish to watch me drag my ruined body across the line, I will probably need carried the last mile anyway so a hand would be nice!
This may not seem like so much of a big deal to most of you super fit people out there (you know who you are, idiot marathon runners and lunatics that run 60 miles in a day!) but for me this is a long way.
My training has been going fantastic (lie number 3) and I have quickly identified a new carb loading process of pizza and lager followed by 4 hours sleep. This is still a work in progress however, judging by my final Blaydon Race finish time but I am committed to dedicating more of my time to this valuable experiment! (not a lie, pizza is great!)
Once again, many thanks for looking and remember its just like a Tesco Advert. Every Little Helps!
That’s all for now but I will try and keep this updated with my training progress and when to avoid the Quayside so you don’t have to witness me throwing up off the Millennium Bridge again!
