What's my story?
So some of you will already know, some of you will have no idea. Just to give you some background...
I lost my Dad following a sudden stroke and the subsequent complications when I was 10 years old, it happened so quickly that I never had a chance to say goodbye. It was about as life changing a thing that could happen to me as a 10yr old kid and it's affected me one way or another ever since.
What's a stroke?
A stroke happens when the blood supply to your brain is cut off, not all strokes are fatal but anyone can suffer one at anytime and it can have massive implications on the rest of your life. It affects how you move, how you speak and how you think.
Why am I doing this?
Because the risk can be reduced. This list is plucked straight from The Stroke Association website and by doing some/all of these things you increase your chances of avoiding stroke...
Look after yourself better and you drastically reduce the risk. No individual or family deserves to suffer from something that may be preventable.
What am I doing?
I'll be doing a fair bit over the next 6 months or so in the name of fundraising and it'll all be culminating with me running the 2017 London Marathon. I'll be looking to arrange things at work, at home, on nights out and spontaneously...If anyone has any on the spot suggestions for which they'll sponsor me, these are always welcome! My £2,000.00 target will be a stretch but I'm confident...even if I don't reach it, every little helps!
If you've read this far, cheers, it's appreciated. If you can donate, I appreciate it even more.
Read back those 6 bullet points, make sure you're healthy...We've all seen that Family Guy episode where Peter suffers a stroke and nobody wants that...
