Story
In the virtual world, we get multiple lives. But in the real one, we've only got the one. Thousands of us are struggling with our mental health, without knowing where to go for help. With one in five people in the UK experiencing suicidal thoughts and one in 15 attempting to take their own life we have got to make sure everyone gets the support they need.
A few months back, I lost my Grandad, my best friend, the person I idolised, the person I would speak to about everything, this was a heavy blow for me. My mental health has been struggling a lot since then, I don't know how to cope without one of the most important people in my life, gone.
I've always struggled quite badly with depression and anxiety with a history of self harming, eating disorders and thoughts of taking my own life, even attempts made. I always felt like I never had anyone to talk to, even with my closest friends and family, cause I'm scared of what they'll think, whether they'll treat me differently, whether they'll see me as strange and that shouldn't be the case.
So for this, I’m taking on 60 Miles in September for Mind — and every step is for someone who feels they’ve run out of options.
Right now, Mind’s phone lines are the busiest they’ve ever been. In the UK 1 in 4 of us will face a mental health problem this year, yet too many still wait in silence. Mind is often their only lifeline — on the phone, in local communities, and fighting for change so no one is left behind .
Please consider supporting my journey, as I attempt to take on the 60 miles in September challenge by donating to my fundraising page 🙏🏻Your donation will ensure that information and support is available for everyone — on Mind's website, the helplines they run and throughout their online community, Side by Side.
Let's smash this as I know we can 💛💛💛
