SameYou's goal is to improve recovery for young adults after brain injury and stroke.

Story

In 2018, I suffered a cerebellar hemorrhage (type of stroke). I luckily survived, because of the amazing quick response of my friends and family, the skill and professionalism of doctors at Kings College Hospital, and finally the amazing recovery work at the Mark Ward in Guy’s and St.Thomas’

As a fan of GOT, I became aware the SameYou charity, founded by actress, Emilia Clarke, well known for her character, Daenerys Targaryen. That inspired me to come up with a challenge, which could be used to raise funds for stroke victims and also motivate me for my own physical recovery (and have fun with friends and family!)

So, the goal is an 100 mile trek across, over 3-4 days, and in the northern part of the UK, along the Hadrian’s Wall . The Roman wall, that protected the South from wild Celtic-Picts invaders. (sound familiar 😉)?

The charity SameYou works to increase the provision of immediate rehabilitation for young adults after leaving hospital and to facilitate innovations in specialist nurse training, fund clinical research and develop evidence for policy change. Their long-term vision is to work with neurorehabilitation leaders to develop a blueprint for a new type of neuro-recovery centre helping people find their way to recovery through emotional and practical support.
