Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I decided to continue my fund raising for Alzheimer's Research UK this year with something which didn't require me getting close to death on a push bike like previous years. Regardless of the events, The inspiration remains the same and that is to support dementia research after my Granddad, Terry McDermott, was diagnosed with vascular dementia. When Bampa was experiencing the early stages of vascular dementia, my Dad, Stuart brought him to the family home in Tenby to care for him full time. He sadly passed away in 2015 and I have been fund raising ever since.
My Dad and brother Joe will be taking part in the Monte
Carlo or Bust ‘Champagne Charlie’ rally in June. Joe has recently taken the place of my other brother Matt as he is now unable to take part. This three-day event involves driving an old banger from Saint-Quentin, France, all the way to Monte Carlo, Monaco. We will go through the Champagne region of France, drive around Lake Geneva and tackle the Alps by going over the Grand St Bernard Pass.
We bought a W-reg Mondeo in good nick for £300 and were struggling for ideas on what to dress it up as. After thinking long and hard, the car will soon be dressed with white spots for the race to create the ‘Ford Moo-deo". Awful I know.
To kick start our fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK, we have a live music night on Saturday 25 March at Saundersfoot Sailing Club. This follows a successful night I held there last year, which was also in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK.
