Fundraising for British Heart Foundation
Story
Thanks to donations and advances in science the British Heart Foundation have pioneered treatments and medicines to help extend life for heart failure patients, it has also helped make heart surgery safer and more successful than ever.
In May 2003 I lost one of the most important people in my life, my Grandad. I grew up with my Pops as my father figure. Spending most of my childhood at my Grandparents house, going away to their caravan in Hunstanton on holidays, and bird watching (the feathered sort). I had a brilliant childhood and this was thanks to them. It’s safe to say that without my Pops I wouldn’t be doing this challenge, after all he was the person who taught me to ride a bike.
Pops had been playing a game of Table Tennis when he was struck by a sudden and unexpected heart attack and despite the quick response and efforts of his friends, he passed away leaving my Gran and the rest of the family in total shock.
Since then I have always been passionate about fundraising for the British Heart Foundation, so when I saw a bike ride from London to Paris, I decided to go for it!
I know it’s a long way off, but when I haven’t cycled much in the last few years, so I need to kick start my training now. On September 12th 2018 myself and my partner in crime Rich Ablett, will leave London and cycle 307 miles, over the course of four days through the English and French countryside until we reach the Eiffel Tower.
This is a challenge that will test every ounce of my willpower, determination, stamina and of course my backside!
In order to complete the challenge I need to raise £1,600. This is where my plea to you comes in.
Any donation amount you are able to give will help greatly in my mission, and no matter how big or small that donation is, you will be helping the BHF to continue their amazing work, and hopefully stop another family from going through the pain of losing someone they love to a heart related illness.
This is still a raw subject to me, even typing this is hard and quite emotional, so if I can try and prevent at least one family having to go through the pain and sadness that me any my family went through at that terrible time, I think my grandad would be proud of me.
The British Heart Foundation with the support of people like you have helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory diseases in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people still lose their lives. Its only thanks to support from people like us that the British Heart Foundation can create new treatments and discover new cures. Just £25 could pay for an hour of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps, so please give what you can to help me reach my target. Thank you
