William's Heartlink fundraiser · 1 February 2023

Heart Link, was originally formed as a support group for parents and families who have a child suffering from a heart defect. Since 1981 we have collected over £4 million pounds. This has been used to fund projects large and small. Thank you for supporting us!

Story

William fundraising event

February is the month of love and what a perfect time it is to raise awareness of CHD for children like William.

The heartlink have been supporting myself and William since we walked through the hospital doors.

Heartlink was founded back in 1984, with all the donations they have received they have brought medical equipment for the ward, PICU and outpatients not forgetting the waiting area, parent lounge/kitchen, playroom, quiet room and parent bedrooms and arranging special events throughout the year for us heart families.

As most people no William has been misdiagnosed for 4.5 years for his heart condition. As parents our job is to protect, love and care for our children.

During this time it has been such a rollercoaster for us GP appointments, ambulance rides hooked up to oxygen and overnight stays to be told William is a healthy child and it's just viral infections.

It wasn't until April 2022 I finally met an amazing GP Dr Joseph who listened to my concerns, he performed a head to toe check on William and said he can hear a heart murmur and referred William to the cardiologist team. After several appointments and scans and they diagnosed William for ASD (atrial septal defect 2 holes in his heart) that was growing each month, PAPVR (partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection) and sinus venosus with a life expectancy of age 30.

William had open heart surgery on 26th September 2022 the operation went well but unfortunately after the surgery William had an anaphylactic reaction to the blood he was given when he was in intensive care which delayed us seeing him for some time.

4 weeks post surgery they discovered another issue with William a SVC OBSTRUCTION (superior vena cava syndrome)

22ND December they pulled us forward for another operation, after three balloon attempts the operation unfortunately failed. We are currently waiting on a new medical plan to see what else they can do for William.

So all I ask if you have any change please donate to help children like William.

Without the heartlink and their continuous support I honestly have no idea how we would have got through all this.

❤️❤️❤️❤️
