RideLondon 100 for Libs

RideLondon 2022 · 29 May 2022 ·
On May 29th I’m taking part in Ride LondonEssex, cycling 100 miles in memory of my gorgeous youngest daughter, Liberty Grace. As you know, we were utterly devastated to lose Liberty on October 11th 2017, following a courageous 13-month battle with Ewing Sarcoma. Ewing’s is a rare but very aggressive form of primary bone cancer, which mainly affects children and most especially teenagers like Liberty..
Libs had only just turned 14 when we lost her and our lives have been shattered and changed forever, she was such an incredible force of nature, our social butterfly, she never sat still and she had such a wicked sense of humour, always smiling, no matter what was thrown at her. She is so deeply missed every second of every day
With the opening of the new Liberty Salon this year and an unexpected accident that resulted in 15 stitches in my head, training has not been exactly what I would have wanted it to be - and these legs certainly aren’t getting any younger! But Liberty never gave up, not once, and I know I won’t either. Come what may, whatever happens, I will finish, with Liberty ringing in my ear ‘Come on dad!’ So if you can spare a few pennies to help me on my way, I would be incredibly grateful . It was Liberty’s greatest wish that we continue to raise funds in her memory for research after her death - the treatment she received was decades old and designed for adults and survival rates for Ewing’s have not improved in nearly 40 years, just shocking! So hopefully by peddling 100 miles, I can bring us a little bit closer to fulfilling her wish.
Liberty’s Legacy is a special fund of the Bone Cancer Research Trust and all money raised is ring-fenced for Ewing Sarcoma research,.
LOVE YOU LIBS…THIS IS FOR YOU BABY!!! 🦋
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%!Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
