Story
Chester was born 9 weeks early weighing just over 3lbs. His first 50 days were spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Poole where he grew stronger and eventually stabilised.
Just before discharge we were told that Chester has Periventricular leukomalacia(PVL) - damage to the white matter of his brain leading to impairment of the Motor Functions. He was later diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy affecting all 4 limbs (Quadriplegic).
This means for Chester that his gross motor functions are massively impaired and that he has “spasticity”(extreme tightness) of his muscles preventing him from being able to move in the way he wants and resulting in unusual movement patterns.
Through regular physio our goal is to improve any chance of independence for Chester.
He has so far exceeded all expectations - he NEVER gives up. He is cheeky boy, is always smiling and is just as stubborn as any 2 year old. Chester needs support to do all of things that we take for granted and will get there with your help
