We believe that all pets should have access to veterinary care – regardless of their owners’ financial situation. Over 100 years, we’ve helped more than 20 million sick and injured pets – providing life-saving vet care to more vulnerable pets than any other animal charity in the UK today.

Story

This morning (9 Jan 2015), I lost my mate TED....my little soldier....., after a short battle with a brain tumour. Thank you to all of the staff at PDSA Thamesmead and Croydon, who gave their care to ensure that he didn't suffer unduly. I am at a loss without him, but hope that by telling you his short story, you will understand how he helped to change my life.

Ted was a bundle of energy when I adopted him as a puppy from 'the last chance' dog rescue charity. I was not long out of hospital with mental health issues, and his personality and presence impacted instantly on my life. He gave me purpose and affection, he bossed  me from day one, good because I needed direction!

He only reached the age of 5, but boy did he know how to live. A regular character in Crystal Palace Park,  many knew him, and, through him, I knew many. He had special friends, and through him so did I, too many to mention, but dogs and people you know who you are !!

To those who have never enjoyed the pleasure of having a dog in your life, let me tell you, a dog means you are never without friends. For those who know the joy of dogs let me share Ted's CV :

  • Liked chasing planes....
  • Great swimmer
  • Runner up in last year's Crystal Palace Park dog show biscuit catching competition
  • Best sausage beggar in the park ( Martin in the cafe will miss him, Martin's boss won't)
  • Tenacious
  • Intelligent
  • Crazy
  • Beautiful
  • Loyal
RIP TED X
